Frequently Asked Hypnosis Questions
Q) Will I lose conscious awareness or be asleep when I'm hypnotised?
No. Hypnosis is not a state of sleep and there is never - at any time - a loss of conscious awareness.
Q) Will I lose control of my thoughts or actions?
No. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. You will always remain in control. The hypnotherapist is a highly skilled therapist who guides you into your own hypnosis. It isn't a battle of wills! No one can hypnotise you if you don't want to be.
Q) Will I be made to do odd or stupid things?
Absolutely not! Hypnotherapy is used for serious purposes only. Remember all hypnosis is self-hypnosis and you never lose control. No hypnotised person would do anything they would not normally do and no reputable hypnotherapist would suggest that their client do so.
Q) What if I get 'stuck' in hypnosis?
There has never been an incidence of a client becoming 'stuck' in a hypnotic trance and nor could there be. You can take yourself in or out of hypnosis as you wish. Enjoyable as the hypnotic state may be, no one has ever chosen to remain in it permanently!
Q) It is dangerous?
The only time hypnosis could be dangerous is where a person has misued drugs before being hypnotised.
